The unsettling journey of resettlement.

This digital interactive immerses audiences in the lesser-known stories of asylum seekers navigating life in Turkey, a country that has become a crossroads for millions escaping conflict. While the Syrian civil war displaced over three million people into Turkey, Stuck shifts the focus to those often overlooked: migrants and refugees from Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, and various parts of Africa.

Caught in legal limbo, these individuals face a two-tiered immigration system that treats non-Syrians differently, revealing the bureaucratic maze and uncertainty they endure while trying to rebuild their lives in Europe.

As a mentor to Master’s student reporters, I guided the activation of this collaborative multimedia project, a partnership between HuffPost Canada and UBC’s Graduate School of Journalism.
